Coaching

What to expect.

What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
Therapy often addresses mental health, trauma, and healing. Coaching is future-focused and action-oriented: clarifying what you want, identifying what is in the way, and building accountable movement. Coaching is not a substitute for treatment or emergency support.
Why is Michael qualified to help me?
Michael lists bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology, 17 years of prior clinical counseling experience, Certified Professional Coach credentials, and continuing training that includes the Gottman Method, Relational Life Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy.
What does a typical session look like?
Sessions are conversational but structured. Expect direct questions, challenged assumptions, and a clear next step. Individual and business sessions are generally 60 minutes; couples sessions are generally 90 minutes.
Do you meet in person or remotely?
Relationship You offers virtual coaching and local options in the Northern Kentucky area. The right format can be discussed during the consultation.
What does coaching cost?
Current rates and the right engagement format are discussed directly during the free consultation after Michael understands what you want to work on.
Is the first consultation really free?
Yes. It is a real conversation about what is happening, what you want to change, and whether working together makes sense. There is no obligation to continue.
Do you accept insurance?
No. Relationship You provides coaching rather than medical treatment, so insurance does not apply.
My partner is skeptical. Is that okay?
Yes. Skepticism is common. The first conversation is not a commitment to a process; it is an opportunity to see whether the approach feels useful and fair to both people.
What if I need urgent mental-health support?
This website and contact form are not crisis services. If you or someone else may be in immediate danger, call 911. In the United States, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
